Hatching eggs is such a fun process but for beginners it can be a bit nerve racking. This information is to help guide you through the process.
Follow these guidelines for a smooth and happy hatching experience!
1. Purchase an incubator-there are many out there so do your research and find one suitable for your needs.
2. Find a good spot for your incubator; no drafts or fluctuating temperature, and be sure it is secure away from pets or children.
3. Eggs take 21 days to hatch! This means you have 21 days to prep an area for your new chicks!
4. Eggs require the proper humidity to hatch, as each incubator can slightly vary in this it is imperative you do your research as incorrect humidity levels can lead to unsuccessful hatches. Humidity must be monitored the entire 21 days, especially at lock down.
5. Hatch day-Ensure temperatures and humidity are correct based on your incubators instructions or type of eggs you have ordered.
6. Be patient! I know you want to help but its best to let nature take its course! During the hatching process the chick is often still absorbing its yolk and you may see some of this after hatching. If you see some is still connected leave the chick in incubator until absorbed.
7.Transfer chicks to their brooder once they are nice and fluffy!
