Ensure you have a safe spot for chicks prior to arrival. The space should be a secure location away from other pets or predators.
Chicks require heat immediately after arriving or hatching for 6 weeks or until fully feathered I recommend a heat lamp or brooder plate set up prior to the chicks arrival.
Provide food and water upon arrival, if any appear lethargic you can attempt electrolytes in their water or offer some egg yolk to get them to perk up.
Depending on what you prefer you can use wood shavings, straw, or hemp bedding in their pens. day old chicks
Chicks require chick feed for 16 weeks and this can be bought in medicated or unmedicated. Chicks are very susceptible to things such as coccidiosis, and it is important you clean the pen regularly.
When you are ready to introduce your chicks to their coop ensure it is has proper ventilation, and is predator proof. If you are introducing your chicks to a large flock it is recommended you introduce them through a separate kennel or area until they are big enough to protect themselves. Chicks can get pecked on and injured from older hens or roosters.
